Sony Cineza HS51A projector home theater projector front. This Sony is seen in an unusual price for an LCD projector based home theater. Line with prices around $ 3000 or less, it is much more expensive than the Sanyo Z4 or Panasonic AE900U popular, now both are less than $ 2,000 after rebate online. As a result of its direct competition comes not from other LCD projectors: Epson Pro Cinema 800 is a lot more, and high performance PLV80 Sanyo, another thousand. Instead, the next competition, priced to DLP projectors, including Optoma (Hot Product Award winner) H78DC3, the cheapest and features DarkChip3 DLP Mitsubishi HC3000 DarkChip2 (n I had “no chance to check).
Tower of Physics
From the Pre-OT HS51A Cineza you find a manual zoom-climb to the right of center (if you’re facing the projector). The goal is not down (so be careful) and it has rings on both focus and zoom. The zoom range is 1.55:1, which gives good flexibility, but at the lower zoom range of LCD projectors, some of which have zooms 2.01. Sony lets you zoom, a 100 “diagonal 16:9 screen from as close as (approximately) closed 9.8 meters, and as far as 15 feet. If you prefer shelf configuration in the back of the room can be assembled, relatively deep and your room, you may not be able to put the projector as far back instead is. However, the ceiling mount by most, the permanent installation to preference. There is a small infrared sensor on the right side, just above the Sony logo. Sound projector openings warm air from the front panel to the left. it seems to be blowing quite simple, but there is plenty of space between the ventilation and the lens such that n ‘there was no detectable distortion caused by the column of hot air.

This is the Sony Cineza HS51A projector.Moving right along, there are two screw-adjustable feet on the floor near the front, but set several inches. There is only one non-adjustable rear foot to a stable 3-point attitude. There is also a panel there with a single screw on the lamp door open to replace the lamp. The position of the screw is sufficient for the middle of the projector using the ceiling mount you, you need to disassemble the projector to replace the bulb!
Lens Shift
If you still have the front of the projector on the right side you find two dials, one for vertical lens shift and one for horizontal lens shift.
There is a pad to menus on the Sony projector. On HS51A the left side navigate to the front are the power button (once or twice for off), input selector and a menu button. Just behind the menu button is a small button like joystick to navigate menus.
At the top of 4 lights: A light (double, to tell you if the cover is open), the temperature indicator, power saving feature (which Sony has a menu option on the Save button to energy (and save the lamp ), if it sees no signal for 10 minutes. in this mode, the lamp turns off, but the fan continues to run. according to the manual can not be the projector to shoot for the first 60 seconds after the kick in the power saving mode, allowing time for the lamp to cool.
Well it’s finally leads us back. You will find in the cable connection, embedded in the lower back. Directly above a large removable panel that provides access to the air filter features. (This admission, so if you try to mount the projector shelves to allow the rear of the projector to panel.close entry HS51A Sony projector on the wall for ventilation purposes.)
Cable connection
Looking at the back of the projector and the left, are: firstly, to close a 12-volt trigger for motorized touch screen, next to a USB port on a computer. Sony offers a CD Image Manager, which allows some custom gamma settings. (PC only, not Mac compatible). Note: A USB cable is included.
Next in line is a single HDMI and component video area (the usual three RCA jacks), one composite video input (RCA) and S-video. Next is a standard HD15 computer input, and finally the power connector. Unlike most projectors Cineza the Sony lacks a rear sensor. In addition, a number of other new models sport a second component video input, compared to a Sony. Next year, the new projectors tend to support two HDMI and one component as digital outputs on the cheaper DVD player is displayed, and the rest of the cable and satellite boxes.
